Brown's Bog

West of Shreve on Brown Road

This 80-acre glacial bog ecosystem is well-known to biologists and ecologists of Ohio as one of the few well-preserved, virgin boreal acid bogs remaining in the region.

It contains a spendid example of undisturbed boreal acid bog vegetation and a rich variety of wetland vegetation and swamp forest. The bog is a typical example of a glacial depression in which the stages of ecological succession from open water to swamp woodland can be observed.
