Migration Sensation

Thank you to the 45 people who volunteered to make this event a success.  Number 9 was by far the best year ever and we are looking forward to number 10.  Volunteers are being recruited now for March 26th and 27th.  Descriptions of jobs are posted.  This list will be updated as volunteers are obtained.

All volunteers are given two passes for the event.  We have needs for 40 volunteers.  More are always welcome and are usually needed.

 Saturday, March 27th

- Parking  -  (7 am - 10) - #10 - Bill Fought

Bill Fought is the veteran of this.  He will take care of traffic flow and parking.  Vendors are permitted to park in the rear.  They will have a pass from move-in they can show to authorize parking in rear of building. 

- Multi-Purpose Volunteer- GoFer- (7 am - 9 am) - #12 - Shelley Bower

This person will be Joe's Mental Health resource during the start of the event.  We will need running and resource locating and fresh legs to deal with the issues as they arise.

- Registration area worker (7 - 10) - #13_Cheryl Gordon

Your job is to ask if people are attending the workshops or here to only shop and eat.  Shoppers and Eaters are directed to the vendor hall and those wishing to attend the event are directed to the sales tables for yellow bands.  An alternate sales area is set-up in the breezeway for times when lines get long.

These volunteers will be stationed to the right and left of the Birder's Hall.  You will collect registration cards from those wanting to come for food or shopping.  You will distribute purple wristbands to free entry and yellow to those wanting to attend the workshops.  If the crowd backs-up re-direct those wanting to pay to the ticket sales in the breezeway.

- Lecture Hall - Speaker introductions (all lectures) - #17 Rocky Teague

This volunteer will need to meet and greet the speakers, assist with microphones and do introductions.  Joe will assist with some housekeeping announcements throughout the day and provide the tech support.

- Family Workshop - Supervision and Speaker introductions (all day) - #18__Deb Thern___

This volunteer will need to meet and greet the speakers, assist with microphones and do introductions.  You will also provide general support to the workshops and presenters using this area.  Joe will assist with some housekeeping announcements throughout the day and provide the tech support.

- Multi-Purpose Volunteer - GoFer- (9 am - 10 am) - #19 Andy Spencer

When this shift begins things should be running smoothly and it is time to start making the rounds to offer to make food runs, provide restroom breaks, and to fill in as needed.  If tickets are backed up help with this area too.

- Registration area worker (10 -2) - #20 Andy Spencer

These volunteers will be stationed to the left of the Birder's Hall.  You will collect registration cards from those wanting to attend workshops and give them a yellow wristband

This is our runner and break maker for all of the other volunteers. 

- Photo contest workers (need 2) (7 - 10) - #26_Janice Tipton___ & #27_________________

This volunteer will collect photographs as they arrive and make sure that they all have a registration form on them.  You will hang them on the appropriate board, add the next number for that category, and add a sales price if indicated by the owner.  The sales and balloting will be explained to you by Joe.

- Photo contest workers (10 - 2) - #28_________________

This volunteer will collect ballots from the photo contest and payments for any pictures sold.  You will not release the pictures purchased until after 3:00 PM but you will provide a claim ticket for the photographs.  The sales and balloting will be explained to you by Joe.

 - Photo contest workers (2 - 5) - #29- Mike Shires & #30 - Cindy Shires

This volunteer will post winners from the photo contest and collect payments for any pictures sold.  You will not release the pictures purchased until after 3:00 PM but you will provide a claim ticket for the photographs.  Prizes will be distributed to winners at 3:00 when photographs are removed.The sales and balloting will be explained to you by Joe.

 - Vendor Hall Supervision (10 - 2) - #31_________________

This volunteer will be available in the Vendor Hall area to provide booth coverage for breaks, make coffee runs, or to assist with areas that are backing-up like registration, tickets, and photo contests

-        The black curtain needs to be lowered and unpinned.  It is folded and placed in the chair storage area.  Shreve banners are removed from the railing and placed in the storage area also.

-        Vendor items need to be removed from the hall - lift available

-        Tables need to be cleaned off and place back in storage

-        Trash needs to be removed and floor needs to be swept.

-        The registration area needs to be torn down unless it has already been done when ticket sales stopped.

-        If this area is done before the Speaker Hall is finished please assist them with their work.

-        The custodian will assist with what needs to be carried and what needs to remain in the storage area of the smaller gym.

-        The cafeteria area will need put back also.  It generally works well to start in the cafeteria and then move to the speaker hall.  The cafeteria is generally ready to tear down sooner.

-        The sound system and projection equipment need to be moved back to the Conference Room.

-        Trash can be taken out to the dumpster and the lobby area and gym need to be swept.

-        If this areas are done before the Vendor Hall is finished please assist them with clean-up.
